This visa is for people visiting Australia for holidays, tourism, recreation or to see family and friends.
ETA (Visitor) Visa
Electronic Travel Authority is an electronically stored authority for short-term visits to Australia for up to 3 months. Available to passport holders from a number of countries and regions, who are outside Australia.
To be eligible to apply for an ETA, you must:
- be outside Australia
- hold an ETA eligible passport
This option is only available to passport holders of ETA-eligible countries.
An ETA is valid for a period of 12 months or until your passport expires (whichever is sooner) and will permit multiple entry to Australia, providing no single visit exceeds 3 months.
eVisitors Visa
This is an electronically stored authority for visits to Australia for tourism or business purposes for up to three (3) months. Available to passport holders from the European Union and a number of other European countries, who are outside Australia.
To be eligible to apply for an eVisitor, you must:
- be outside Australia
- hold an eVisitor eligible passport
This option is only available to passport holders of eVisitor eligible countries.
An eVisitor is valid for a period of 12 months or until your passport expires (whichever is sooner) and will permit multiple entry to Australia, providing no single visit exceeds 3 months.
Tourist Visa Temporary
This is a temporary visa allowing a stay in Australia of up to three (3) or six (6) or 12 months. Applicants can apply from both outside and in Australia. Some tourists are eligible to lodge an online application for an e676 Tourist visa.
This visa is available to all passport holders who are:
- outside Australia and want to apply for a visa to visit Australia
- in Australia and want to extend your stay as a visitor.
Sponsored Family Visitor Visa
This visa is for people seeking to visit family in Australia for a stay period of up to 12 months. The applicant must have an eligible relative in Australia or an Australian Government official willing to sponsor them.
Formal sponsorship by an Australian citizen or permanent resident is required. The sponsor provides a guarantee that their visitor will leave Australia before the visa expires.
