Australian Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL)

Australian immigration laws are regularly on the change, and so are the occupations in demand by Australia. Certain occupations on the Skilled Occupations List (SOL) are also classified as “Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL)” due to skill shortages in Australia

The MODL is a list of occupations which have been identified as being in demand in Australia. This list is revised in accordance with prevailing industry and employment trends

• People seeking to migrate to Australia on the basis of their work skills receive points if their nominated occupation is on the MODL list which is current at the time their application is assessed (not when their application is lodged).
• hey receive extra points if they have a job offer in their nominated occupation from an organisation that has employed at least 10 people on a full-time basis for the previous two financial years.

Points Awarded

• 15 points - For an occupation in demand, but, with no job offer in Australia.
• 20 points - For an occupation in demand, with a job offer (the employer must evidence that they employed no less than 10 people in the previous two financial years) in Australia.

Preparing for your Application

• This MODL is current at the time of publication. To receive extra points for a job offer, documentary evidence of the job offer should be included with an application. The organisation making the job offer must also indicate the number of people it has employed on a full-time basis for the previous two years. Please note that DIAC will make checks to verify the accuracy of this information.
• To be eligible for migration under the Skilled Visa Category, your present occupation, for which you can evidence suitable qualifications (degree, diploma, trade, skills and experience) must be included in the list of Skilled Occupation List(SOL).
