Skilled Worker Category

The objective of the Skilled Migrant Category is to provide for the grant of residence to live and work lawfully anywhere in the country of your choice. Skilled Worker who possess the required qualification and experience can obtain Permanent Residency by demonstrating that they:

• have skills to fill identified needs and opportunities; and
• are able to transfer those skills and link with local needs and opportunities; and
• are able to demonstrate an ability to contribute both economically and socially; and
• are able to demonstrate an ability to successfully settle.

Permanent Residency allows you to have an access on various social programs and societal benefits.

Education - Canada Skilled Category

Federal skilled worker applications received on or after February 27, 2008 are now assessed for eligibility according to a set of instructions issued by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.

Your application will be reviewed in three steps.

According to the Minister’s instructions, your application is eligible for processing if:

• you have an offer of arranged employment from a Canadian employer, OR


• you are a foreign national who has been living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR


• you are a skilled worker who has at least one year of experience in one or more of the occupations listed here.

Check whether your occupation is present in the 38-Priority Occupation List of Canada. Even if not, you would still qualify to get Canadian Permanent Residency. As you are making 67 points, but still, if your occupation is not available in the approved list of 38-Occupations, this Education - Canada Skilled category offers you three options to qualify for Permanent Residency to Canada.

a. If you are making 67 points, you can go to Canada as an International Student for a 1 year (2 semesters) course, through GICS. After completion of course, you would be eligible for Permanent Residency that would be handled by GICS.

b. If you are not making 67 points then you can get benefited through Canadian experience. Under this category, you can go to Canada on a 1 year (2 semesters) study and on completion you would be provided with Post Graduate Work Permit for 2 years that would enable you to get Permanent Residency through GICS.

c. Else, you can go on a 2 years study in Canada and thereafter on completion of Post Graduate Work Permit, you would be eligible for Permanent Residency.

Business Immigration

It provides permission to work in a country where one does not hold citizenship. Working in a overseas country without a work permit is illegal and the same cannot be obtained without a valid job offer from an employer. GICS is professionally networked to acquire a legal work permit and place you in a job in your favoured country.

Student Visa

People who are interested towards studying abroad in order to gain international qualification, first-rate work environment, high income shall make sure that:

• You must have been accepted by a school, college, university or other educational institution.
• You must prove that you have enough money to pay for your:
• tuition fees
• living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you and
• return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you.
• You must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to the security of the country.
• You must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination, if necessary.
• You must satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave the country when you have completed your studies.

Student Visa mostly enables the student to qualify for Permanent Residency upon achieving the required points of the Skilled Migrant Category of the concerned country.

Visitor Visa

This visa entitles a person to visit Canada, Australia, Europe, UK, New Zealand or anywhere across the world as tourist for a holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, friends or for other short-term non-work purposes. Visitor visa is otherwise called as a Temporary Resident Permit (TRV) and it is country specific. It would be for single entry, multiple entry or transit purposes and may be granted for a renewable period of 3 or 6 months.
